    Heh calling all kayaking experts, newbies or intermediate stage learners! Share your thoughts and realizations. Newbies post your questions and concerns here.

I'm a newbie....so let me start first.....lolz

For one thing, I feel that kayak beginners must learn the art of "hitting the water". Speaking of which....anyone knows the correct term of this technique? Its the technique of regaining balance when one is off balance by hitting the water with one's paddle and using the resistance to help oneself. By learning this technique one can greatly reduce wasted time in swimming back to shore and emptying boats, so more time can be dedicated to learning the delicate art of balancing a kayak.

Also, I've seen many people try to do stunts on kayaks recently....does this really help in training balance? :?:  :?

Sorry DQ king, but ive got one more question..... how would u feel if the canoe sheds are positioned nearer to the paddling area than making the rest of the canoe community to walk to and fro. (not refering to SCF)
i feel that if the sheds are strategically positioned, we can save lots of wasted time travelling around, and we might even avoid some of the mishaps along the way, such as banging into runners/walkers, and most importantly, not damaging the boat.. hahahaha
Today is a good day..... to paddle... :)

I'm new to kayaking, just passed my 1-star  :)  I'm quite tall (almost 1.9m) and I experience some difficulty getting in/out of my kayak. However, wet exit during a capsize is no problem.

When i was at changi, i used an Acadia (slightly longer kayak with easier entry). That was alright. However, when it comes to the bandit or slalom (dunno if i got the spelling right), i struggle to get my feet in/out.

Just wondering: If i go paddling at Kallang, what kayaks do they have there?

Your reach will be further and thus the length of your stroke is much longer compared to shorter paddlers...
Olympic paddlers have an average height of 1.8 and above.

ive got a fren nearing 1.9 too...(1.87), and he cant find a suitable paddle and boat to paddle during training, and i think its making him fed up... anyways, if u wanna pick flatwater racing, i suggest u find a good paddle length and a boat that suits u for ur height and weight proportions.....  :)
