True that 10km is about lighter boat...

But didn't SMU beat mountbatten when they are on champion and mountbatten on BUK ? And this years we have a majority using champions or BUK...

Not defending anyone here.. while we like to say express lane or light boats or whatever reasons.. let us not deny their hardwork in training too

Singapore River Regatta is about which lane your team got.

It is not always the best team win.

After the Heat event,
Winning percentage for Lane 5 is so high consider that, the fastest team are allocate to Lane 3, Lane 4, lane 2.

Singapore River Regatta is just a FUN race due to the Express Lane 5.

The 10km race is also a joke.
it is about which team is using the lighter boat, do you think SMU is able to win using normal SeaGull Boat??

If any of you think that your team is good enough, then prove it at SDBF.

For Poly team, every batch got different result.

Ok, NP the most Lucky for SRR, but, they had not proven anything on SDBF.

Do not be happy with just a Win,  in sport,  you got to score a hat trick to prove your are damn farking good.

First win, might be luck
Second win, might be also luck.
3 win in a row, you are farking good.

It is like watching Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelski fans saying, We are the Best team.

The Best team, in my view, is NTU.
That Sweet Madam make sure her team is behaving. Don ever mess with her.

Why are you guys always mumbling on the reason behind each loss or dwell on past results? Isn't it a tad bit too childish? If the community wants to move on as a whole, the first thing to change is the mentality.

It might be true that SRR has express lane but so what? Seems like those that keep commenting on the express lane are just too sour to actually admit that your team did lost, express lane or not.

The next thing is to stop dwelling on past results. No offence but so what if RP did dominate the polytechnics? The fact that the polytechnics are catching up is the thing that is happening right now. If I'm ever a RP paddler, I wont be bragging about how my team was the fastest among the POLITE teams because fact is RP did lost to NYP at this year POLITE. If you want to make sure other teams shut their fucking mouth, prove it at SDBF '11.

I realise there are way too many keyboard warriors in this forum. And yes, stop wondering, I'm from one of the POLITE teams and I feel no matter the results, every team deserve a pat on the back for the efforts and sacrifices they put into every race. The next time you want to write off any of the tertiary teams, think of whether you can put in the same amount of commitment and sacrifices.

Well said! @manythanks!!

Srsly, why talk about past glories? yes, it matters for reputation. But if you can pull it off now and again, noone will say anything. the sport is transient. everyone improves. main thing is to not stay stagnent at where you are!

but to improve, we need other teams to try catch the number one. if not it goes to the same thing, who wins more medals win and no medals lose. This sport needs everybody's competitive spirit. Dont just win a polite and make a big hoohaa about it. Whats the point if someone eats you back at the next race? surpass this standard, maintain your winning streak and you will see that everybody will improve. Beat your own timing, beating others will not help.

Agreed.  empty vessel make the most noise.
winning in SRR is nothing but a freak result.

If you are going to take the result of SRR as a bench mark, then you will are just too naive.

Pray hard to get Lane 5, the magical lane.
Finally I could rest. Dragon boat will b jus work and money frm now on, no more passion for it but just sick and tired of it

If you guys keep bringing each other down instead of encouraging one another, you won't do any good to the already low standard of dragonboating in Singapore. Where's the love?
