PUB is planning to cover Alexander canal which feeds into Singapore River, with an artificial park.

This means the canal will be permanently closed to water traffic and activities, including kayaking and dragonboat.

Actually a long distance kayak marathon can be organised whereby the competitors have to pass through all the various canals and waterways if possible. It will definitely be THE EVENT if this can happen. 8-)

best is to have a boat race through all the waterways like a motor race. with time limits. if you make a certain checkpoint within the time limit you get extra time to finish the next checkpoint!
Where can I paddle? I just got out of Vault 13!

ya that'll be a cool idea!

btw, alexander canal flows from Quenstown MRT all the way to Singapore River (near to Zouk).... and the Sungei Ulu Panadan flows from Buona Vista MRT to Jurong River then the sea.

ya i was about to say that! Alexandra Canal to be exact. It flows along the Alexandra Road, towards Bukit Ho Swee. If its opened, people living in queenstown can really paddle to CBD to work!!! Imagine avoiding all the traffic jams!!!! Nautilus, go get a place near queenstown MRT and hope they open the canal for public use!!!
Paddlesup!

heh.. tks for the correction on the typo.

More significantly, Alexandra canal is the source of the Singapore River. Bad fengshui to cover the source of our histroy and wealth.
