Maybe bcos Smu was never at the top to begin with ?
Where as Nus had a few good runs n pple have high expectations from them ?

Jus perhaps..and for Smu case..
I feel that impression wise
pple are still viewing them as a new team hence fore less expecations as compared to other Unis like Ntu n Nus..

Even in this entire discussion, u seldom see pple praising SIM n SMU..
Due to their performances from years ago.

I feel pple are making judgement based on impression n past results..
Which we all know it's not accurate but is still guilty of doing.

mountbatten was never a darkhorse to begin with. they may not be the favourites to win but that doesn't make them a darkhorse or underdog. safsa didn't have as many nteam paddlers, i guess that makes them a darkhorse too.

i think NUS did well, they trained hard, put up a fight til the end. i feel that their stroke rate was a little faster than the rest, which could be the reason that cost them a neck to neck finish.

I agreed. NUS stroke rate is too fast to maintain for the whole 1000m. And i believe their last charge was a burn-out last charge. As i think the boat speed didnt came up, whereas the stroke rate is fast.
