What I gather is that, it is a sort of like a collaborative race between SDBA and a major player - which is not related to dragon boat. That major player wants to use dragon boat to introduce itself to the mainstream mass, well sort of. And they wanted it to be in the Singapore River because I think they liked what they saw in the Regatta - a lot of people milling around, waiting most of the time and getting stressed during their events. My contacts in SDBA told me that they (SDBA) will use this event to experiment. Did not say exactly what that meant though. I guessed we just have to stay tuned
