Penang Pesta Dec 2009!
« on: December 06, 2009, 12:57 »
Penang Pesta starts 12-13 Dec 09, and I know many local teams will be there, including NTU, SIM.

It'll be quite a race! All the best to everyone!

this year's event sucks big time.   >:(
poor organisation, unfair moving starts, and quite a few casualties.

teams from singapore include SIM, SMU, NTU, Singapore Japanese Armada, Team Naga, PLK.
they should move the race back to the dam!!!  :-\

Without any proper lanes, there were collisions in almost every other race! :D
If you had gone for the heats, semis and finals without any collisions, consider yourself lucky. Sadly, SIM got a casualty :( (need confirmation), hope the rower is okay now...
No buoys to hold on at the start-point, with teams starting half-a-boat's length ahead of others! LOL!
"AAAAre you ready" and teams are already 10m into the Race-course!
Re-Race and more re-race... false-start and more false-starts... delay+++ >:(
Makes you realize how good SDBA and SAVA are, at conducting races here. :'(

On the whole it was fun  :D

This race was not organized by the Penang Dragon Boat Federation (PDBF) but by a splinter group. PDBF broke into two because of political alignment. For the record, PEnang is held by the current Malaysian gahment but mist of the decision makers are with the opposition.

Dragon Boats are never meant for the seas. Hence why IDBF sanctioned races are never held on the seas. Pray that the casualty is not serious. We (Singapore) really don't need another dragon boat incident
I want to improve the Sport....God Help Me

Helpers for the race events had shirts with "Sponsored by pacific west" behind.... makes me wonder if this race was truly even under any association. There were even collsions between malaysian team and one casualty from Team Anak caused by pacific west? lol.  SIM casualty was also caused by Pacific west. lol. everything got to do with pacific west. Saw them confronting a few other teams as well for approaching them during the race. i mean wth is wrong with these gangsters man.
