National Team
« on: August 14, 2009, 10:43 »
Dear All,

As word has already got around, the national team will be carrying out our largest recruitment thus far for the women team to rope in the best of Singapore Dragonboat in our bid to make the Asian Games 2010, to be held in Guangzhou, China.

The Asian Games in itself holds a long history. However, this will be the inaugural inclusion of Dragonboat to the games, thus making our impending success part of history!

As a lead-up to the Games, the team will be looking to participate in various overseas races to push ourselves further.

Many of you might have your reservations as many of our teammates had. However, we would like to reassure you that joining the National Team will not equate to forsaking your current commitments. Understanding that we all have our individual pursuits outside of Dragonboat, we have a flexible system of training based largely on trust and discipline. In addition, you will still be able to paddle for your school teams as the national team will not be competing in the same categories.

Moreover, you would be able to learn much and take it back to your schools for a value-added experience!

The trial details are as follows:

12th September LAND Trial

830am @ SDBA Admin. Office, Kallang Riverside Park
2km Run, Bench Pull (90sec 7.5kg per side MAX REPS), Sit-Ups (60sec MAX REPS), Bench Press (1RM)

13th September WATER Trial

830am @ SDBA Admin. Office, Kallang Riverside Park
300m Individual Time Trial (DB)

We sincerely hope that you will consider joining us and we’ll see you at the trials! (:

What do you mean by 'Bench Press (1RM)'?  What is 1RM?

How often is the training?

Any age limit?

i don't think there is much of an age limit.

1RM  = 1 Repetition Maximum. If you don't know abt 1RM, i'm guessing u most prob wouldn't have tried that before.

I believe there's only 1 criteria, u have to be female.

Like what Trivium has mentioned, 1RM = 1 Rep max, so you'll just have to do only one rep with the maximum weight you can carry.

Trainings are on tuesdays, thursdays evening and it's flexible if you've club/school trainings to attend to.
& not forgetting 8am-10am during the weekends.

Can you be a PR to be eligible or do you have to be a Singapore citizen?

there is no age limit.

About the mens recruitment we are not too sure as this is a ladies recruitment.

Don't have to be a singapore citizen, we have few PRs in the current team too. : )

Might be easier to see a video but not 100% but I think dumbbell is used instead of barbell.
