haha y bother when u would most likely go against a nearly whole boat of national/ex canoeists who eats 10 over kilometers in a single training, every training for breakfast, lunch and dinner? lol... NO HARD FEELINGS OK JUST A HARMLESS COMMENT

ok unless you are aiming for 2nd  :) :) :) :)

i read about how last year's race caused an uproar with regards to boat type usage... wonder if there'll be any changes this time round   ??? ???

i don't see what the uproar was about.
the rules were simple. all teams to furnish themselves with a boat.
so it is up to the team to decide what boat they want to use.
the competitive ones out for a placing will obviously go for Buk, if not, Champion III.
those who are just taking part for the experience and fun of it probably won't bother and get a KTH or worse still, the SDBA waterlogged boats.

i doubt there will be any changes. close to 20 teams took part last year. i don't think there are 20 Buk boats available for use, neither do we have 20 C III or KTH. even if you get all teams in Singapore to contribute their boats, you will end up with a motley crew of different boats, and logistically it will also be a disaster.

so i'm quite confident everything will still be the same.

and, if pple don't compete simply because there will be a boat full of national rowers, then you jolly well make sure i don't see you in SDBF and River Regatta. don't mean to be sacarstic but just feel your anti-competitive statements were frivolous and adds no value whatsoever to the discussion in this thread.

hi aspire, ok maybe uproar is too strong a word.
but maybe u did not read the posts regarding this race last year.
for your benefit, here it is:

http://www.hydrotribe.com/board/index.php/topic,493.0.html

there was substantial discussion about it, so now can u "see what the uproar" was about?  ;)

anyway, i'm not anti-competitive. i'm all for competition, don't get me wrong. it was just a HARMLESS COMMENT, like i said. please don't get offended if you are one of them, or if u do know people in certain teams. PEACE!

i apologise if i've been too strong with my words. don't worry; i don't bite. regardless, let's all train hard and make full use of hydrotribe as an avenue to discuss ways we can improve our game, rather than gripe aimlessly about random issues. cheers.

You can rent boats from SPC. We have a spare 20 crew champion boat for hire. Paddles, rudder, bailer and a few life jackets supplied.

Price negotiable (def cheaper than SDBA's fees!), PM if you want more info.

SPC has got Champion III? as far as i know, not alot of teams have Champion III. The newly established Philipino Dragonz has got 1 though.
