OMG to SAFSA!
killing every other team!
i realised that SAFSA consists of many many N-team/ Mountbatten CSC paddlers.
and so did Neophytes.
i guess there's no control of participants in the Open category races.

ANYWAY.

SP didn't perform as well as i expected.
i thought i would see them as the new best team in the POL-ITE standards.
but at least they beat NUS during the Tertiary Men finals.

RP couldn't match the standards of NTU.
*CHEERS FOR NTU!*
but they did beat NUS, another big boys team.

kudos to RP and SP, getting silver and bronze respectively during the Tertiary Men Finals.
i would love to see how the teams perform at POL-ITE.
it's a warm up to the upcoming SDBF in June!

and the rain screwed the race up.
the rules did too.

HAHA! agree to a certain extent.
but were you there to witness the race?
how did you know that there are many n teams paddlers inside SAFSA?
if you really do know who is the N team paddlers, you will know whether or not they are in the Opens category.  :o

I think that they didn't really field their N team paddlers in their opens category. Maybe 1 or 2? but i dun think it will be of a significant difference as 1 or 2 rowers might not make a difference. It's a TEAM sports. 20 mens rowing as one dude. (:

CHEERS.

agreed. SAFSA do consists of a number of N team rowers, but i dun think they have any Mountbatten CSC rowers. and in the open category races i dun think SAFSA used much of their N team rowers.  but this is only MR and the main race will be in June. despite all the comments abt SAFSA, i still think NTU is the team to beat in June.

yes indeed it was pretty scary. the mixed race was definitely a race to watch. mountbatten guys and the ntuc womens mixed was even faster than some of the mens team, not forgetting neophytes. it was all jaws dropping and glass shattering man. expect the unexpected!

about the guys events it was pity that np did not take part this year if not we could have seen how far they have fared and improved after the disappointment from regatta. hearing about sp performing quite well at kallang but seems like it was only their last charge that was still good as usual. as for rp they didnt seem to have lost much seniors though just a few but their main boat was mostly juniors so i guess they did pretty well. nyp did improved given after regatta but still, not up to the match of SP and RP. as for TP they were eliminated during the heats lagging behind and losing to NYP. lets watch and see if they will rise on the next upcoming race.

as for the womens events, during the first day NUS were leading for the womens tertiary. the other schools were not even a match for them, though the RP womens who were in the same heats as them was trying to keep close but still during the last charge they lost out. for the womens opens, it was highly anticipated but sadly it was cancelled due to the rain. i noticed that SP sent their juniors down for the tertiary and opens but the mixed team was the senior girls instead. SP mixed team werent really fantastic. however the eye opener was that RP womens eventually beat NUS during the finals for tertiary. but sadly there wasnt a womens opens for us to enjoy immensely.

o my long post pardon me. but just my two cents.

SAFSA is really the team to watch all the big boys, they are huge... and i still remember it was so funny that one of the overseas team was carrying their tentage running around and shouting "we want beer! we want beer!" IN THE RAIN

yes, i may not know who's in there.
yes, maybe i was wrong about the number of N-team people in SAFSA.
yes, it's a 20/18 men thing, but everyone plays a part.

Did'nt like the way it all ended on the final day but at least SAVA had a contingency plan! Something must be done about the timing issues though, especially when such crucial decisions depend on the timings.

Patience is virtue...

I guess most people did not really like how MR 500 ended this year. 'Free' medals given out to the top 3 teams with the best timings in semi-finals definitely didn't boil down as a great decision from SAVA to the racers.

Don't get me wrong, I am not someone who cried over spilled milk for not doing well during the semi-finals, but in fact gotten a medal out of nowhere.

My team was ready for the last kill after warm-up but sadly the Cat 1 siren sounded. All hardwork for the buildup to the race came to nought when the announcement made for the best timings in the semi-fnal would get a medal. Everything felt so wasted.

Even just before the prize giving ceremony, the weather started to simmer down. The sun came back how we wished that the decision could be overturned, but it was not to be.

If only they had waited a bit longer...

I can understand how lastman feel. Its what most feel because it was ok towards the prize giving out session and could have waited. But i think that they had to do what they did. I am taking a course on management with with respect to planning an event and understand and appreciate their decision. Not all party can be satisfied with a contingency plan but they do what it needs to be done. I am positively sure that they must have had certain limitations to work around especially unpredictable parameters such as weather and had the meeting with all the managers to discuss it. Definitely, more can be done to determine the winners in such event but i think they did well in such conditions so kudos to them. Nobody is extremely wrong or right, just that they did the right thing in optimising whatever they have in deciding thier opinion

A positive outcome of this event is how timing is consistently set and achieved by top teams now. Teams like SAFSA, NTU, NUS, RP and SP are consistently setting good timing of less than 2.04 or more. This is definitely moving in the right direction because hopefully with more training they can break the 2 minute barrier and then we would be closer to the international standards so kudos to the team mentioned above. As usual, my fav team NTU owned in nearly all the events. You go NTU.

And i heard sdbf will be held at the marina barrage. any truth to that?

hi cellsandtext...

think u got it wrong. NUS n RP weren't in the same tertiary heats lah. it was the 20crew womens opens.
