SDBA MASTER SERIES again? What are your view?
« on: December 03, 2008, 21:14 »
The best of 5 Series will count towards the total points after the completion of the Series in December 2009 taking into consideration that some teams may miss a Series owing to other commitments.

A SDBA Master Series Challenge Trophy will be up for grabs for the team with the highest total points as well as cash prize of S$3,000.00 for the men’s category (1st Position) and S$1,500.00 for the women’s category (1st Position) at the conclusion of the Series in December 2009.

During last 2 master,  the point-system was totally full of sh*t.

even if you are to be the lowest points, as long as during the last series your team made it to the final and get a top 3 placing, you will still win the medal.

Again this is money indirectly given to Mountbatten CSC.

If SDBA gonna encourage $$$ reward.  Why not also do it on River-regatta and SDBF ???

got to agree, kind of queer that the awarding of medals were based on the final series. had always been under the impression that its based on the final tally. my impression was obviously incorrect!  :o

As SDBA is encouraging Corporate, Junior Colleges and Secondary Schools to participate in the 2009 Series, these organizations may join forces by sending combined Corporate, Junior Colleges or Secondary Schools’ teams to compete in the Series.

If sdba is REALLY encouraging Corporate to participate in the Series, why not it allow it be a 10 crew race just like the woman event since Corporate team very hard to get a big boat commitment.   ???

to send a combined team? will this ever happen?  who is gonna train the team? Who is in-charge of it?  ::)

We're talking to a few of the Corporate captains this weekend in Penang with a view to putting something together - a Corporate All Stars team! Would be a fairly casual thing with training a few weeks before a race, an independant coach is something we would need to source...and funding of course. Any corporate ex-captains mind putting themselves forward to be team manager??!

Mounbatten CSC pool of rowers consist of practically all the National rowers..The small handful of non-national rowers have a fearsome reputation as well..Which other Singapore team is closest to beating them in the next masters?

NTU

In fact, a true good team will come from the tertiary teams instead of N-Team rowers.
