1  rep max is the heaviest weight you can lift for just one rep. Means after the one rep you have reached failure. yeah means the weight allows for just 1 rep frm you then gg liaoz. LOL my bench 1 rep max is like 80kg now (30kg worth of plates each side and assuming the bar is 20kg, the big bar that everybody says is 20 kg) if anybody knows the weight of the bar let me know :) But in my opinion, think the zai ppl shld bench above 100kg for 1 rep max.

National athletes should at least bench 1.5 times of their body weight.

For example, if you weigh 70kg, you should be doing bench 42.5kg per side (taking into consideration the olympic bar weighs 20kg), which adds up to a total of 105kg.

I believe this culture of benching 1.5 times of the national rowers body weight has been implemented. On several occasions of my visit to the gym, I have seen those guys from the national team benching real heavy weights.

i think it would do good for the Poly teams to send their paddlers to Nteam.
Will do loads in helping to "up their craft"...
