TRUE!  :'(

expected,  how to chose coach? or how to be a coach?
start at lower stage, take CSC, Sec school, then move up to maybe Inter-corp. Prove yr worth.  Learn to handle smaller teams, and try to get some result.

Patrick? Sorry to say, from where huh?

from NYP. Sorry to say, you too should start from your own stages.
dont go around flaming other people.

NATO, i don't know if you sounded sarcastic or what.
but i think that comment was rather uncalled for.
not all coaches start big.
i remember RP being a not so good team in the past when i first started out dragon boating.
look at where Steve and the other coach has brought them to now?
i don't think Nasiman started out strong either.
i say, give Patrick time.
NYP will soon rise to the likes of SP or RP.
don't be like the BPL owners, firing everyone who can't produce results in a short amount of time.
let's just watch how we talk.
and FYI, i ain't no NYP paddler.
i just don't like to see people bringing down coaches and their efforts.
 ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

yes, agreed. Adding on to wat i said earlier ( i did mention NYP could use better guidance), as much as it is a journey of self-discovery for the paddlers, it is a journey for the coach to discover his own strengths and weaknesses. i have to admit he is not very technically gifted (from his rowing resume), but i'm sure he can be a very good motivator and inspirational figure, taking on the big boys eventually.

A coach cannot be good overnight. He needs to be given time, and most importantly, undivided trust from his paddlers. Only then will his paddlers fight and bleed for him.

Coaches, themselves are also learning every time even though they might have their own plans in mind. They learn things only after being exposed in various races and seeing how other teams improve and tt's that only way teams can learn passively. If u judge a coach by his resume then nobody will have a chance to try out .
Yupyup, got to agree with

Anyone know who is steve before he even started coaching RP?
Nasiman become a good coach overnight?

Everyone have to start somewhere!

but if a coach has hardly rowed before, or rather, only rowed at a CSC or at a recreational level, i don't think he/she would have the technical knowledge to handle a high-level team (Tertiary/Competitive club).

No amount of Youtube clips they watch would help.

steve is a special case,  well,  any other coach same?

Nasiman?  dont forget  NJC, Canadian also under him

Fully agreed with Trivium,  " but if a coach has hardly rowed before, or rather, only rowed at a CSC or at a recreational level, i don't think he/she would have the technical knowledge to handle a high-level team (Tertiary/Competitive club). "

Maybe Pat is still too young..and start too fast @ tertiary level.

Maybe he should go back Safra more often and learn some more from Poh Soon

to begin with who was the one that said patrick is going to be replaced? Whether he is going to be replaced or not has nothing to do with anyone outside of NYP team and management. This thread is going the direction of a tabloid trash. I am locking it up.
It is all just in the mind.
