The question is a little hard to answer...some parts of the basin are supposedly not accessible by kayaks, but sometimes people go in nonetheless. You'll need to specify which part you'll be visiting.

Best idea is to get a string, use a sea chart, and check the distance using the scale.

let's split the place into 2 parts.
facing the indoor stadium and using the nicoll highway bridge as a separator - the right side and the left.

if you were to paddle on the shore of the right, taking into the consideration of the construction taking place right now, you would have paddled around 1.8 - 2.0km.
if you were paddling on the left of the bridge, it would be around 1.10 - 1.20km.
so do your math and it'll be over 3 kilometres (i would say around 3.5km?) if you're paddling the whole place.
 ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

The route is:

PA --> Sheares bridge --> 2nd Sheares bridge --> yellow bouys infront of barrage --> Sheares bridge --> Suspension bridge --> Oasis --> SDBA --> PA

I think this is similar to this year's Canoe Marathon route?
