« on: December 18, 2006, 15:38 »
Looks like dragonboating is getting serious. With all the golden showings at Asia Games for the sailing team, its time for other water-sports to play catch up at the competitive level. Foreign coach is being employed to train the national sprint kayak/canoe team now. Its time dragonboat have a coach who say have experience with elite macau or hong kong teams. It seems they are the traditional experts in this sport. What do you think?

Posted on: 11 Dec 2006
The Singapore Dragon Boat Association are looking to appoint an experience overseas Dragon Boat Coach for their National Men's and Women's Squads to help them prepare for the South East Asian Games to be held in Bangkok in December 2007.

The Coach, ideally, should be prepared to be in Singapore for a short period of 3 to 6 months which can be extended, if mutually acceptable, for a year or more.

A coach, experienced at international level with elite paddlers, preferable from an English or Mandarin speaking country close to Singapore, for example, China, Hong Kong, Macau or even the Philippine, is preferred.

Terms of employment will be discussed as part of the contract negotiations.

Interested persons should contact Mr Lim Wee Kok at SDBA - email:- sdba@starhub.net.sg
It is all just in the mind.

Will a foreign coach help? I figured they need to have some kind of outreach program to attract good potential individuals into the sport. Its just not a clearly defined sports in SG. People on the street think that dragon boaters are merely body-builders. Its not getting alot of right image.
Where can I paddle? I just got out of Vault 13!

We don't need a foreign coach at this stage. We need to clear up the internal mess first. If the mess is not cleared, even u get the best coach in the world its not going to move any further upwards the ladder. It takes both hands to clap.
Nieh Nieh ... You suck!
