I previously wrote a formal request for an equote on www.frontcatch.com and have yet to receive a reply. Anybody has done business with them yet?  :)

Sorry pcgwee, if by equote you meant the webform on our webpage, we were genuinely unaware that it was not functioning. It will probably take a certain amount of debugging before it is up and working again. Meanwhile we will be pleased to communicate with you through the conventional email which I am sure you already know.

Once again sorry for any inconveniences.

You can now view specifications and public ratings on different paddles on this site.
http://www.freewebs.com/paddlerating/
Of course you can also submit your own user reviews to the administrator.
Not the most comprehensive listing, but this is the best we've got at the moment. As usual read everything with a pinch of salt, cos the proof in the pudding is in the eating!  :)

Coincidentally, someone in the USA Dragonboating is too lazy and copied my original post entirely word-for-word. I am looking for a wood paddle, but not much vitamin M. Which paddle is more affordable for a poor student like me? I haven't got chance to find out the cost. Any advise?

You can be a noob but don't be lazy. The rough prices and where to get the wooden paddles have already been put up on this thread (pages 1 & 2). In addition, Front Catch also offers Swift wood paddles at a very affordable price. If even these prices are out of reach for you, look for 2nd hand paddles from seasoned rowers ready to upgrade. Check the 2nd hand paddles thread for occasional value buys. That thread is also stickied. http://www.hydrotribe.com/board/index.php/topic,108.0.html

For one very few people give up their trivium if they ever get their hands on it... I know I wont. :p

The surfacing of the paddle is ideal with or without glove. It doesn't slip if thats what you are worried about.
It is all just in the mind.
