SINGAPORE: The two-man team crossing Death Valley in California, USA have completed their challenge.

They reached their destination at around 2am on Saturday, Singapore time.

Teacher Yong Yuen Cheng finished the journey in 50 hours and 39 minutes, while MediaCorp News producer Lim Ngee Huat took 51 hours and 49 minutes to complete the run.

They were not far off their target of 50 hours.

Recent pictures showed the pair hampered by injuries.

Lim had hurt his ankle and had to have it bandaged, while Yong had muscles aches.

During a rest before the last leg of their journey, the team spoke with students from National Junior College where Yong teaches.

Yong said the last 20 kilometres were tough and described the hardships they had to overcome.

He said, "I was feeling very, very sleepy yesterday when I was pushing up the second mountain."

Supporters expect to welcome the pair back to Singapore early next week. - CNA/yy

which reminds me of a saying by General George Patton, a World War 2 american general:
As I walk through the valley of death I fear no one, for I am the meanest mother fucker in the valley!
It is all just in the mind.
