it seems like although it wasn't a regularly enforced rules, NUS must have inadvertently stepped on some tails to cause 2 other teams to protest against their 'non-drumming'. It seems like a case of being defeated through technicality because I don't see how not drumming can affect or disadvantage other teams, although its an IDBF ruling. There must be other hidden reasons behind. Being to pompous and full-of-it may sometimes invite ire.

The real reason is simple actually. They cannot let Singapore teams win. It will make them look bad. I was there looking at the finals and my attention was towards Indonesia followed by NUS. It seems to me that the drummer was drumming. I myself was puzzled when they were disqualified.

Well, this is what i want to say to them. You guys were great and you did S'pore proud.

yea i saw the drummer drumming vigorously too esp during the last charge.. critics back off!!!! though they have been disqualified, they still manage to compete at international level and do singapore proud. how many teams are able to perform at such lvl.. I think we shld all give them the thumbs up rather than focusing on their down side. way to go NUS!! hope to see some up and coming teams ready to challenge them head on! HARDER!!

P.S. im no NUS DBer!!!  ;)

I agree. Being pompous are cocky does make you the target of a lot of arrows.

NUS has a Major Marketing and PR problem. they are fast, but they've stepped on so many toes in both Dragonboat and Canoe fraternity that everyone just wants a piece of them.

NUS dragonboaters should learn to be more humble and stop walking around Kallang acting like superstars and making fun of slower teams.

Personally, i think that the guys are very humble because they will not make so much noise on the boat. Apparently, there's this particular team that always sing very loudly before the start of every race, intimidating other teams (which i think they failed). That is cocky.

1stly, I would like to state that i'm not a NUS paddler.

Hut, have you been rowing around Kallang often? Have you been around NUS team when they train? Apparently, I have seen them at Kallang almost all the trainings and I have no idea where you got the idea they are pompous and make fun of other teams. Maybe it's time for you to change the prettyboy Oakley shades and see for yourself, then start slamming ppl all around.

If i remember correctly, it was not too long ago, that you slammed their coach, Nasiman for whatever reasons i can't remember.

Frankly, i think very little of you trying to put them down as it shows your jealousy of arguably one of the best dragonboat teams in S'pore.

And for the NUS guys, i'm sure they will come back stronger for their PM Cup and they are truely a team to be feared.

Just my many cents worth.

Yup. Totally agree. NUS is definitely one of the best teams. Top 3 i would say. It's hard to really say who is the strongest. But i dare say top 3 is NUS, NJC, and Mountbatten (as we all can see from Master Series).

Cool off a bit guys. No need to get so agitated right? Sit back, relax, and PADDLE.  :D

Yup, i think NUS will win the PM cup. NTU will return the cup to its rightful owner this year.

ok i think I am not too clear myself. My bad. By my meaning pompous and inviting ire from others, i am stating a possibility of such issues happening, perhaps from one or two individuals. It is never fair to apply a certain judgement on one group of people in its entirety because so many people cannot have behaved in the exact same manner.

My line of logic is, 2 purposefully videoed responses by 2 other teams may indicate something more than just pure 'jealousy' from these 2 other teams. Someone must have unwittingly made some gestures, some comments, or perhaps unconsciously irritating these other teams by other means.

I by no means fail to recognise NUS's prowess, I am merely giving a reason for why things may have turned out the way it did.
