SHOUTING AT US PARTICIPANTS when the our race is still not even up yet like what washeater said. I feel like taking my paddle and slap the officials ... who is the real CUSTOMERS? Can they respect their customers a little bit more? Makes us really pissed off with such lousy organisation. If you can't organise, don't organise.

Don't make a fool out of yourself.

I think the offcials are from SDBA. I recognise them during the last master series.

that serious? Seems like the officials are finding it more a hassle then real interest in sports promotion...brings to mind why local dragonboat racing continue to deteriorate despite the growing number of people participating in it.

Even their medals are of low quality. Don't know how cheap it is since apparently everyone who was in the finals of their respective races got a medal.

But you should all see the trophies they prepared for the CSC/CDC races. The whole race seems to be for them.

ditto to that. i didnt fail but to notice that it seems more enticing to be in the CSC/CDC races due to the fact that it seems to be a much celebrated race of all in terms of the trophies that were given off, and the off stage celebration. i feel that there should be equality for all the races, and give off medals where it deem fits. giving medals off for all the participants in each finals 'devalues' them, however, it definitely spurs some of them to want to get a medal.
Today is a good day..... to paddle... :)

It is inevitable that CSC/CDC are give priority treatment, this being a PA invitational race.
Community Sports Club => Community Development Council => People Association => Govt
Of course there is political mileage to be gained from this, which in turns means more funding.
However they seem to forget that the bulk of local athletes paddling for CSCs are in fact paddlers from other official/school teams.
How many athletes only paddle for CSC/CDC anyway? Getting politics involved in sports just suck. Because of the unique situations and lack of effort from grassroot leaders, most of the CSCs paddlers aint even living in that area. Yes it saves them effort to recruit the best from existing teams, but does it really shows that the constituency really promote sports and healthy lifestyle to their residents?
Just to give 2 examples, Mountbatten and Kampong Glam. I don't think bulk of their paddlers live in the area. Really, how many people live in Kampong Glam still?
Where can I paddle? I just got out of Vault 13!

we must also know that without political play, there will be no funding and support from the necessary agencies/departments. With so many sports vying for centre-stage, dancing to the tune of politics may sometimes be inevitable. I think water venture, being new is trying to garner as much support and attention to kick start the business after letting it rot away under Paddlez Inc / Sea Sports Club.
