It is inevitable that CSC/CDC are give priority treatment, this being a PA invitational race.
Community Sports Club => Community Development Council => People Association => Govt
Of course there is political mileage to be gained from this, which in turns means more funding.
However they seem to forget that the bulk of local athletes paddling for CSCs are in fact paddlers from other official/school teams.
How many athletes only paddle for CSC/CDC anyway? Getting politics involved in sports just suck. Because of the unique situations and lack of effort from grassroot leaders, most of the CSCs paddlers aint even living in that area. Yes it saves them effort to recruit the best from existing teams, but does it really shows that the constituency really promote sports and healthy lifestyle to their residents?
Just to give 2 examples, Mountbatten and Kampong Glam. I don't think bulk of their paddlers live in the area. Really, how many people live in Kampong Glam still?
