is totally no pple ... not much team there ...
I feel that the whole event was badly organised especially in the kayaking part. The guys shouldn't have included any kayaking races when they talked about following ICF rules but did not.
1. Starting command is different;
2. Inconsistent in the rulings. The first day, the panel judges never even blink an eye when boats did not keep to their lanes. On the second day, teams started to be disqualified when they cross lanes. I think it was very unfair to people who competed in the 1st;
3. I guess many teams out there will like to appeal against the results of some. However the panel of judges refused to even let the competitors view the captured video of their races. That led me to wonder if there was any video recordings to begin with. The funnier part was, there was one judge from SDBA that asked one school to fill up some protest forms and pay a sum of money, thinking that it would deter them from further appealing. But then a staff of PA clarified that there is no protest form or whatsoever when the school proceeded to do it.
4. Results of appeals always the same.
Appeal party: " How is it?"
Spokesman : " I am sorry, the decision of the judges were unanimous"
Appeal party: " Can I view the video recording of the race? I do not mind paying
to watch it."
Spokesman : " Sorry, we can't let you do it."
and then they tried to brush you off by giving some racing rules that you knew were just plain excuses. Hello, I am sure we knew simple and basic racing rules. Luckily they did not attempt to draw a diagram of how the boat crossed the lanes on a piece of paper. I got that when I protested against a dragon boat race decision in Malaysia.
5. Rush in timing. It was clearly stated that in the programme sheet the timing of each race. However, it was entirely different on the day itself. For example, for a race that will begin at 2.50 pm, the competitors were requested to report at 2 pm and were then told to report to the start line where they could wait up till 30 mins before the start of their race. Waiting under the hot sun while trying to maintain balance was not at all helpful. The athletes are not Supermen. They do not need the extra sunlight.
Why do we need a race schedule in the 1st place?
Can we have some quality races especially on the part on fair play? I do not think it is too much to ask for right? A video camera capturing all the lanes and a video camera capturing the ending would have been sufficient.
Do not try to include so many events when they can't be handled well..Short changing athletes who train hard to pay and compete is a no go.
