well to be fair. More than 7 yrs ago when I was an undergrad, I trained in the same boats, which were in quite ill-maintained condition already. Now in 2007, the same boats are still around, and we are still using them. The 'measly' amount so many teams and clubs paid over the years should have more than break even the cost for those old boats considering the boats should cost around 6 - 7 grand per boat. The exact math should be plain for all to see. (not insinuating, just plain facts, please don't flame.) The reason why there weren't a fleet overhaul by SDBA were not clear to anyone.

bloopy, the so called 'different looking' boats are race purpose boats that are let out only during races. They are also sponsored by the respective companies who had their logos and names printed on it. They probably can move faster than rental boats due to the lack of barnacles on the hull. Also, some boats may be of different weight, as those who participated in the last Master series can testify.
It is all just in the mind.

I think it's just a rumour. If they're changing to champion boats, they would have posted it on their website.

Is it the PA? Since they are launching operation under Water Venture at Lower Seletar, they must be bringing in boats. Champion or not I don't know.

I went down to Seletar reservoir today to get a glimpse of the training ground. From what i've found out, they're currently only renting out small 10-men crew SDBA kind of boats. not sure about the rates though.
