I'm watching a replay of RP paddle now. they seem to be doing EVERYTHING that i hav been taught is wrong... no follow through, no forward catch, no twisting.. maybe that's what i've been making my team do wrong all this while. perhaps singaporeans should re asses they way we paddle.. the fact that RP was isolated from the rest of the world gave them a clean slate to work with. and steve got it right.
I couldn't agree more. They are the only team that do not reach forward by bending down their torso, and yet with seemingly little upper body motion, they are 1 second from NUS tradition long strokes, and beat NTU's traditional, short, fast spectacularly uniform strokes, albeit by a 0.03sec.
Perhaps its about spending more time on the water, and paddling longer distances.
Then again they have home ground advantage, this being Lower Seletar Reservoir.
